Project Underpass

REALTORS® are committed to fighting racial injustices and championing policies that build safe and inclusive communities. HomeTown Association of REALTORS® secured a $1,500 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Community Rebuilding Grant to assist with clean-up of graffiti and revitalize the underpass wall in Dekalb that connects Northern Illinois University with Prairie Park. NAR established the grant to help REALTORS® engage with community partners and use funds towards being a catalyst to leverage change.

Toddler Garden

HomeTown Association of REALTORS® received a $5,000 Placemaking Grant from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) to partner with the DeKalb Regional Office of Education, DeKalb County Community Gardens, DeKalb Park District, Basic DeKalb County and community volunteers to establish a Toddler Garden at Welsh Park in the City of DeKalb. NAR awards Placemaking Grants to local REALTOR® associations to help partner with organizations and local governments to transform underutilized spaces and turn them into vibrant public spaces for the community to gather and enjoy. The purpose of the toddler garden is to provide an interactive garden designed to maximize brain development from birth to five years of age by using the 5 Basics. The Basics are five evidence-based, nurturing practices that help all infants and toddlers thrive cognitively, socially, and emotionally. The toddler garden is ADA compliant for all children to enjoy and play.
